I have a 2004 with only 66,000 miles that I think just kicked the bucket today. I am devastated and expecting the worst. Does any one have any thoughts?
Here's what happened today:
The heater was blowing hot and cold intermittently.
I then noticed that the temp gauge was all the way down to the blue cold, not hot.
The red above the temp guage was lit.
The check engine soon light came on.
I stalled on the highway.
I was able to get the car started again and drive on.
I was losing horsepower and could barely get to 45.
It sounded like there was a clanking coming from my engine.
Dark smoke started billowing out of the exhaust, and it smelled like I was burning oil.
Dark smoke began billowing through my vents.
Smoke was coming from my engine.
So here's the little that I was able to see in my engine (yes, I was the jerk that held up traffic for miles today on the Bay Bridge!)... There was coolant in the reservoir.
Back in October I had nearly 5k in fixes to the car.
Replaced:
head gasket
throttle deicer gasket
coolant reservoir
radiator and hoses
thermostat
spark plugs and wires
(invoice attached for specifics)
Anyone have any thoughts?
Thank you, any my apologies if I made your commute hell today on the Bay Bridge.
