No Doubt, good list - rotoflex is something that rattles around my Disco all the time. And I have a multi channel VHF vehicle mounted.

Most of the trip is actually hiway albeit very empty hi-way as you get north

Turbomaxx is something I need to research

Definitely get a 5 gallon fuel can. You may have some long hauls with no stations.

GBurke, I carry 40 liters for long offroad trips and may add another 20 for this trip, there is 750km with one gas station, kinda of in the middle that may or may not be open

Jealous, to say the least. Have a great trip!

+1 and I am actually going to be buying some MRE kits to toss into my truck for worse case scenarios.

Is there going to be cell phone coverage along the route? If not, I would suggest some kind of means of letting people know where and when you are going during certain legs of the trip or overkill get a sat phone.

Friday Night Disco cell phone coverage A few years ago there was marginal coverage 80 miles outside of Vancouver on the major east west highway through Canada, it is better now but still bad. I am traveling in a group so not too terrible.

There's a thread over on DWEB started by a guy who took a trip from Louisiana to Alaska four years ago. It's a good read.

Well thanks everyone for your input and keep it coming - I think I will start a build /Prep thread for this trip. I have a few maint things to do plus load setup and testing so it could be fun.

Don't forget an extra liter of maple syrup in case of emergency (ok there is my Canadian joke for the day)

Weather radio (NOAA NWR/Weatherradio Canada). Most cheap Motorola walkie talkies have them. As mentioned, a ham radio with good output power (depending on your license situation), external antenna and preferably VHF. You can still use them without ham license, but just not transmitting. In case of a life threatening emergency it looks different, you might, even on non-amateur frequencies, but check the law.

1) Bring a small roll of wire, like tie wire, or fencing wire. Good for hanging exhaust up or whatever decides to start hanging low or rattling broken.
2) Zip ties
3) 12v test light and a small electrical kit along with your extra fuses.
4) Fire extinguisher
