Im getting to that part right now with my project. While I guess fresh in your memory, how hard was it to remove all those head bolts? Im getting there, almost, but cant remove those head bolt with the 16mm. Been trying half day already but it wont move a bit. Im even afraid if theres a tool that can reach the bolt near the firewall. Any advice?
You need those tools You were asking me about earlier. They are all large and heavy duty, made for busting nuts loose in tight spaces and adapters flex just so. Impact sockets hold the fasteners heads better and extensions flex about 15 degrees. None of this stuff will break.
1/2-inch drive, 24"+ break over bar
a 3/4-inch drive 2-3 foot long with a pipe for leverage will turn anything loose, you just have to get the proper socket and flexible extensions

I've been using a 5/8" impact socket. I need to get the wobble extension to get this other bolt off. I was also using a 18" breaker bar and like Jeff Blake said, its been tough goings. I'll probably pick up a 24" one as my cheap Harbor Freight 18" is getting pushed to its limit.
Is there something in the front that need to be replaced while everything is off? Well, good luck in your progress. Its getting cold here and sometimes rain. Very difficult situation. I have to check calendar when is the next sunny day here.
Yea I had some leaks from my front cover and water pump so I went ahead and did all the bits.
Question for those familiar with the heads. I called a recommended machine shop, for the pair its going to be $110 to have them cleaned and decked. It would be another $85 for the valve job. Is the valve job something recommended to be done with experience or if I've gotten this far could I do it?
If it's already in a shop, I would get them to do it. You'll easily spend $50 on a valve spring compressor and grinding paste and you won't be doing as thorough a job as they will.
