Default ProLine versus Factory Gaskets

I am about to do the oil separator valve maintenance job on my 2003 Disco. This means have to remove the upper intake assembly and replacing the valve cover gaskets.

I was in the Rovers North site and noticed they offer the Proline as well as the factory version for the different gaskets. For example, the valve cover gaskets:

Proline ($10.99)
https://www.roversnorth.com/ProductD...e=0&eq=&key=it

Factory Gaskets ($42.17)
https://www.roversnorth.com/ProductD...e=0&eq=&key=it

Thoughts on the Proline gasket quality?

Thanks in advance.

I would trash the oil seperator and use a pcv valve on the intake end of the hose.
The Deputy or Best4x4 came up with the idea (sorry guys, forgot which one of you it was)
Fram FV308 brass PCV valve, it threads into the intake manifold, and has a barb for the hose on the other end.

Use Fel-Pro. The Britpart upper intake gasket is metal, and you bang it on with a socket, the fel pro is felt or similar and goes on real easy. The pro line rocker cover gaskets flop around like wet noodles and fitment stinks. The Fel Pro Rocker Cover gaskets hold shape and line up. Use Permatex Aviation Gasket Prep as well. Hold them in place while you fit them.

Sixpack,

Thanks for the reminder on the Fram FV308 valve! I already have it installed

I just need to remove the original oil separator piece. Unfortunately, it is not possible to simply remove the rubber hose and pull out the oil separator valve on the 2003-2004 models.

Nope, stupid design, valve cover and inner sheild have to come off.

Collie,

Thanks for the info. I looked up the Fel-Pro corporate website as well as Summit Racing sites. I can't find the part numbers.

Where did you buy the Fel-Pro gaskets?

Autozone for the Rocker cover gaskets, and I think for the Upper intake as well. A store near me had them in stock. You get two in the rocker cover box.
