Default Proof of Chevy 350 Conversion on D2

I see alot of people wanting info on the gm 350 swap.... However all I find on the web is alot of hear-say.... Is there a shop that does the swap and where..?? business name..??? choice of 350 and why...?? conversion plate other than from Australia...??? etc..???

I am ready to push this to the next level... If you guys on the web cant prove that its been done with some more solid specs... than I will have to be the first..... and I PROMISE I will post info for the future swappeees....

Trust me I know there will be hurdles to jump.... But I can't beleive no one has done a solid write-up yet.... ESPECIALLY on this site...!!!??? If there is already, my apoligies, please show me the link...

if your a LR pure-ist (engine swap hater), please turn the other way as your post are no good here... this is for the people who have actual usable information.... If I wanna swap to the 4.6 than I would have titled this differently.... Thanks for all the future help from the experienced, in advance....

If nothing usefull to comment than check in later as I will soon have some solid info on the swap....

vehicle is a 2000 d2 4.0

I am pretty patient so consider this a 3-6 month build at best.... so be patient with me and my progress as money don't grow on trees....

solid info saves on time involved.... time saved, equals cheaper mechanic bill.... cheaper mechanic bill, means 350's for all d2's.... 350's in all d2's, equals happy d2 owners...

you can put any motor in any rig. depends on how much gutting, work and welding you want to do.

I'm assuming you would need to install new motor mount locations and probably build some unique ones to fit the motor/frame.

I don't see a problem here as long as you are determined

Sounds like a cool project. Keep us posted. I have always thought it would be really awesome to put a 7.3 liter powerstroke diesel in my disco. I have one in my truck and it is bulletproof with nice power.

Sounds like you have a plan, I look forward to seeing the results and good luck. I think I'll do a diesel swap some point down the line when my 4.6 dies on me (hopefully way later rather than sooner).

Here is the big problem, your tranny and the ECU that runs it.Yes, you can put in a 350, along with a GM tranny and t/case but not without basically replacing the entire drive tranny cause you will not have an ecu to run the current Rover tranny.

No I have not done a swap for a GM motor, but I can say I have (personally) seen it done to a defender. Go for it and good luck!

Sure, on a Defender without an electrical controlled tranny.

Ashcroft makes a stand alone computer for the tranny.
