Make your own life choices but... Google says Curb weight is 4,576 lbs, Gross weight is 6,063 lbs. If you ever have any cargo in the towed vehicle you're better off with something to handle the gross weight.

Also..The instructions on the tow bars say that some vehicles tow/steer better if idling? is the LR one of those?

I couldn't imagine someone driving across country flat towing a vehicle idling the whole way.. Sounds like some legal cover our asses lingo.
