Default Push Rods

After taking them out and storing them (in order of removal) I decided to clean them up all nice and pretty....

Fast forward - somebody hit the damn box they were stored in, and spilled them all over the garage floor. Push rods everywhere.

I took it on a hunch to check w/ the Rave Manual and sure enough - they said that you should keep them in order of removal (D'Oh!!).

What do I do know seeing that I don't know what order they should be in - or does it truly matter?

I am looking to start rebuilding the upper half of my engine in the morning and need to get this resolved...

Thanks!

You should be fine. It is best to keep them in the same spot as the rockers and lifters have worn on to the exact rod but they will adjust. Now lifters, that's a bit more critical...

Enjoy! I am right behind you. I always tape push rods in order - can't bump them out of order!

Fortunately they look pretty new (someone also 'played' with the head gasket in the last year or two - but that is another story).

I will keep an eye on that...

Wish me luck - and good luck to you as well!

Good luck. My Disco engine top end is in exploded view all over my garage right now. I should have a good truck when I get through it.

Cheers!

The most important thing to look at is their length and wear on each end. With time they will wear down and then you need to replace them.

Slowly but SLOWLY the engine is getting put back together. Had to stop for the night (lack of light in the garage) and will get back on it tomorrow.

Got the heads and valve covers on, the intake manifold, fuel rail, exhaust manifolds, and will have to get the others on tomorrow (A/C compressor bracket will be fun...)

I don't doubt it will start - I am aiming for no more overheating!!!

God help me!!!

Its a great feeling after you finish the headgasket job and all that work is behind you. Your pushrods will probaby clatter for a short period of time after you start her up, but will quieten down as she runs.

I could not find a length verification check on the RAVE. Do you have any info on this?
