Default put the lift kit on today!!!

so i finally got the time and put on my RTE lift... its took me and two of my friends about 7 hours, with no directions and nothing to go by but instinct... we've done lifts before, but never on rovers... the front was a bit of a pain but the back was a breeze... while we were doin that we also changed out the brakes too... so it has been a very productive day for me... heres a link to some pictures of the work... http://s443.photobucket.com/albums/q...%20lift%20kit/

Looks awesome! Are you planning to upgrade to bigger tires? If so, what kind?

Inspiring!
After I get rotors and brake pads...suspension is the next thing I need to tackle.

Looks like I need to make friends with guys that have garages...and torches apparently

Definitely going to be doing a lift in the future on my Disco. The garage and torch are nice to have but the job can be done without it. Disassembly without the torch gives you the option of selling the springs if you want. Used shocks aren't worth selling.

Definitely the nicest looking short bus I have ever seen, and I grew up in Alaska where the short buses are 4x4.

you dont have to cut out the springs... it just takes a lot longer to take them out the right way... to do it correctly you would use spring compressors to bind the springs and maneuver them out of their perches... my springs were in such bad shape they were going to do no one any good so we opted to save time and just cut them out... before today i had a horrendous knock in my front suspension, and whenever i would hit a bump my truck would swerve nearly uncontrollably... once we finished it up i took it for a drive and its like a completely different truck now... no more noises that sound like a wheel falling off and no more swerving uncontrolably... best thing i have done to my rover by far...

That is an interesting way to remove springs. I mean if you have the tools you might as well use them, right? Here is what I followed for my install. There are additional writeups for the 3" RTE and OME.

I'm looking at all these modifications and kicking myself. Over the past year I've spent more money on frivolous girlie crap.

If I had thought ahead and saved my money I'd have my new wheels, tires AND suspension.
