In fact it's identical to a 12.00 Ebay cheapo I currently have in the 02 D2 Westminster. My ebay cheapo is stamped 82C and it does not open at 180F (I suspect it opens at the OEM temp of 195F aka mis-marked el cheapo thermostat). The normal Britpart unit was always stamped 78C on the thermostat itself. I also noticed the unit I was shipped had the mount a Freelander uses (D2 thermostats don't mount to anything). The normal Britpart thermostat I've used in the past 2 years does not have that.

I've messaged Steve with Lucky8 about this issue.

This could explain why some people that bought the Britpart units were having issues as it's like what I experienced years ago with my Hummer H3's and mis-marked thermostats that were supposed to be 180F but in reality they were 190-195F units.
Do you have any knowledge of the factory PEL500110 thermostat? There's no seemingly noteworthy markings on this one I bought from Amazon.

If it’s grey = OEM, looks legit to me with the LR box & it’s grey.

Put it in a pot of water and watch for what temp it opens... Then you will know just how legit it is. But it looks like the Britpart grey OEM.

Britpart 180F = 30.00-40.00 Black stamped 78C inside, and no Freelander mount tab
LR OEM 180F = 60.00-80.00 Dark Grey, no Freelander mount tab

Ebay el cheapo = 12.00 Black, stamped 82C inside, Freelander mount tab & it DOES not open at 180F (more like 187F to 193F)

I replaced my Motorad 180 with a Britpart 180. Now I sit at 190-198 at warm idle instead of 205-210.

I haven't had one come back with an issue and like I said I've installed a lot of them.

My advice on ANY Thermostat you buy = toss it into a bowl of boiling water and using an infrared Thermometer monitor the temp when it opens.

If I didn't trust that Thermostat it wouldn't be in a single one of my LR's!

i find putting it into a bowl of boiler water is not even close to being accurate it does not mimic real life events as you boiler the body as well.
It’s not reliable at all
I’ve tried and doesn’t work

I’ve done it several times and used an infared thermometer and it’s been darn close. Not exactly like 180F but the main thing is to test if it opens/closes.

Mis-marked thermostats especially el cheapo’s are out there!
