Question about safe lift points on the engine
My engine is on an engine stand at the moment and I will lift it with an engine hoist. The question is how or where do I attach the lifting gear?
There is one lift point bolted to the front of the left head, but no second point on the back of the right head as RAVE shows. Just looking at the engine bay its clear that the lift point at the back of the right head is not going to fit.
I saw a lift bracket that bolts to the IM, but I'm not sure about putting that stress on the IM.
So what is the safest way to go about it?

I used four points, the lift bracket in front of the LH head, a threaded hole on the back/passenger side of the altnernator, and two of the lower IM holes after the upper IM had been removed. I didn't see any problem with using the IM. I also agree with you, using the bolt hole on the back of the RH head would be tough.
