Default Question about tires and spare tire

on my 03 my stock tires are 255/55/18
im thinking of buying all terrain tires 265/65/18
now if I go off-roading and get a flat and replace one tire with my spare of 255/55/18 can any damage occur if one tire is smaller

Theoretically yes, it depends on the overall tire diameter and for how long the spare tire remains on the truck. If just to get out of trouble, just a few miles at slow speeds, no problem, but avoid medium to high speed road use or your diffs may suffer.

If you use the 255 JUST TO GET HOME then fine. BUT it's going to drive way funny with one tire 2.6 inches less in diameter.
And I WOULD get the truck back to 4 matched tires BY THE NEXT DAY.

If you do run a smaller tire in an emergency, remove fuse 28 under the column or traction control will engage constantly. I think.
