Question on leaks
New member, have been lurking here a while gathering some great information. I paid a few hundred dollars for an 01' Discovery II that a buddy of mine had left over from a divorce. It runs and drives like a champ, has around 11k on the clock and looks terrific.
Now the bad, and where I need advice... The transmission pan has a cantaloupe sized dent in it, a corresponding dent exists on the passenger side exhaust line. The pan leaks, terribly. I've a new gasket set on order, but should I also replace the pan? I was going to just true up any waves in the edges and seal it back up, but pans appear to be pretty cheap...
Secondly, I have one heck of an oil leak up front. I ran dye marker through and it's the front main. No issues here, will replace it, but what else should I do "while I'm in there?" Hoses? Timing set?
And lastly, both the tail shaft and front output shaft seals are leaking. I was going to just drop the exhaust and possibly the t-case and seal those guys up. Any issues with that approach?
I'm an ex-wrench (15 years ago) but my garage has a 4 post lift, heater and every tool under the sun. I don't cut corners, so if you guys can think of anything else I should do while I have these parts out let me know. I have the latest Rave, it's just not good on real world experience.

I would replace the trans sump.
With only 11,000 miles on it I sure would not waste my time on the timing chain and gears.
You can replace the t-case seals while it is in the truck, but before doing that I would change the fluid and switch to a 84w-140, 90% of the time the leaks will stop once this is done.
Use the same gear lube in both the front and rear diffs too.

It's been sitting in the garage of my buddies mountain house, wife got the house, he got the truck. They used it for getting groceries once in a while when the weather was bad. I paid for basically the plate and title transfer, it was a nasty divorce.
See, this is why I rent...nothing to loose. LOL!!!
