Exclamation Question regarding small pipe on back of fuel rail

Im working on the fuel injectors and found an oddity on the back of the fuel rail. A small elbow shaped pipe attached to the rail. Looks like something is supposed to connect to it or perhaps a vent/discharge? Regardless nothing was connected to it before disassembly. Thoughts please?
