Default questions about leaks and stuff

Have had a 98 auto disco with about 88K miles on it - wanted one since being a kid and got the chance...need some advice though - on a few things:
Sometimes hear a sloshing sound behind the bulkhead when turning the engine on. sounds like running water behind the dash - any ideas?
the dash lights (ah, the dash lights...) all worked for a while - now some are on, some aren't, auto shift lights are out as well - here's the funny bit - some of the radio lights have gone out as well. aircond, hazzard and air recycle lights work - but the rest are dead. any advice?
and finally the oil leaks - too numerous to mention - but again any advice?

Still love it though.

Heater core has air in it causing the noiseneed to top up the coolant and bleed the air out. The dash lights sounds like a rheostat either burned out or shifted all the way down to the dim position

You may have bulbs out.
Land Rovers have two bulbs for almost everything one green one amber.
Bulb for the clock, gear shift.
I have replaced about seven this year so far.

thanks. unfortunately have just moved to Austrailia and have two screw drivers, a knife and some tape in a 'toolbox'. I'll be talking to the garage tomorrow.
The Rheostat...where would it be on the disco...?
