Default Quick CDL Question

So I just finished up installing the Ashcroft CDL linkage and 1999 DII t-case(thanks to LR2001Silver) with the assistance of my mechanic, that was a lengthy install. Anyways, my linkage seems to be shifting and everything perfectly, however the CDL light doesn't come on my dash. Is this normal? I haven't been able to truly test the CDL yet to see if it's engaged, but I am wondering if I screwed up somehow.

Cheers,
Zack

If you engage it before you start the truck it will or should be there!
If the truck is running and then you engage it no it will not turn on.
If you turn the truck off and restart it then it should be there!

Thanks Drew,
I thought if I engaged it before I turned the truck on it would disengage TC?

Yeah I read that, I saw this, "If you fit a diff lock and leave the wire connected to the SLABS ECU, then start the car WITH the diff lock engaged, the ABS TC and HDC lights will be illuminated"

With my dad's truck, sometimes you have to drive forward a bit after engaging it to get the diff lock light to come on. In turn, when unlocking it, I have to sometimes drive in reverse to get the light to go out.

That's how our truck behaves anyway.

Go get on a dirt road and while the engine is running engage the CDL and drive, the light will come on, it is just stuck from not being used for so long.

I will try driving around with it "locked"...I'm just worried it's not actually locking. Thanks Mike.

Yeah, even the D1's do this. Sometimes the teeth cannot mesh until you move a little bit.

Did the switch for the light get hooked up? I know some of the 03's don't have the harness for the switch. Not sure about the 02's.

Mike, THANK YOU! I drove it to the nearest snow bank and as soon as I lost traction, the CDL light came on and I was enjoying more traction than ever before.
