Default Quick Question, Quick answer?

98 4.6 HSE.. new to me.. so far runs excellent

Next week i will be swapping my dino juice out for sythetic ( royal purple )

1- to flush or not to flush?
2- what weight? Im in the Pacific Northwest
3- Tranny filter? how to do i change it?
4- tranny fluid... Swap to Sythnetic?
5- haynes or chilton? or is there a better RR manual? FSM?

1) No need to flush. Synthetic and Mineral Based are compatible. Get the longer K & N filter and you can go 7,000 miles between oil changes.
2)My preference is the 10-40. Push rod motors like a more viscous oil.
3) See #5
4) Get the Amsoil ATF Synthetic for the Tranny and Transfer Box and the Amsoil 75-90 Extreme for the front and rear differential.
5) Here you go, Learn it, Live it, Love it. The Land Rover Shop Manual in PDF. Everything you want to know about the P38 is in here. If you were to buy this from Bentley's it would be about $139.00. Go down the page to the P38 manual, right click and save to your desk top. Voila-
