Default Quick question on front driveshaft install

What gear do I need to be in to get my front driveshaft to spin free to get to every bolt? I'm assuming that neutral is no good because the truck would roll off the jack stands and squash me.

Shift to neutral (rotate the front passenger wheel to get all the bolts) and apply the e-brake. The truck will not roll off, just chock the rear tires.
