Default Quick on the road question. How hot is too hot.

New 180 thermostat comes Tuesday. But I’ve got about 200 km to do today.
Reading an optimistic 193, but spiking around 220. I’m a risking anything catastrophic?
what temp do I panic?

Those are completely normal stock temps that all of these were "designed" to run at.

Sweet. Thank you!
Panic for nothing. That’s my favourite rover repair!

220 would worry me. At 210 your auxiliary fan should come on. Give it a look see, make sure it has not seized, and that the fuse is good.

You can rebuild the stock fan with a new motor if the fan has crapped out.

Crank the heat and the heater fan to max and pop a window open to keep cool, assuming it has warmed up over there. That will shave a few degrees

Yeah not to say it is correct for a brand new 180 stat. but the truck with OG stat was designed as such. Getting those temps from a 180 usually means you haven't bled it enough.

Thanks all.
Once I get the new 180 in, I’m sure I’ll be back.
