R-N-D clunk...cure?
Ok everybody, I have been waiting for the forum to be fixed so that I could post this...
Just like every other Land Rover in the world when I shift from "R" to "D" I get a "clunk" in the driveline. Same thing if I go the otherway, "D" to "R".
So I tried this a couple of weeks ago, I pause in "N" for 5 seconds before switching gears, no clunk. Gone. Zero.
I dont know if the engine is still turning to fast for the gear change and the pause allows it to slow down first or what, but it works.
So if you had the same noise it might be worth trying.

The klunk is normal with any Rover except some of the old chain driven BW t/cases.
Don't worry about it unless it has become alot lound in the last few days, then inmspect/lube your drive shaft, inspect your rotoflex for cracks and replace the 2 u-joints in your front drive shaft if they can't be serviced.
