Default Radio help needed

I’m hoping someone can help me. I have an 02 Discovery 2 and was having problems with the radio and wanted to upgrade to a unit with Bluetooth. I installed the head unit, but have intermittent problems with the sound. Sometimes there is no sound, sometimes the sound locks in place and other times it jumps to loud. I do not believe mine is equipped with an amp since looking at the fuse box, it doesn’t appear the fuse is even active. I cannot find an amp anywhere in the car (under the seats, behind the glove box, etc). And ideas what may be happening? Do I just need to replace all speakers in case one is bad? It was doing something similar with the old head unit as well.

The old original radios would do something similar. It wouldn’t adjust volume sometimes and would jump to higher or lower volume levels. I assumed the volume **** was dirty or going bad.
