Default Radio replacement 1997 Disco 2

Can I replace the stock radio in a 1997 Disco II with an aftermarket radio without messing up other systems?
Would I need a special harness or anything?

Yes, of course you can. Though if you have a 1997 it is going to be a Discover I. Discovery II replaced Discovery I in 1999. 1999 has both Discovery I and II. Visit www.CrutchField.com. They have a good and reliable outfit section where you enter you car information and it supplies what will fit. I just ordered 6 replacement speakers from them, not ready to replace the receiver yet.

just a heads up, I have heard from quite a few people on here that if you just do the "standard" online order from Crutchfield they will send you the common European radio harness and not the amp integration harness (which is the one most of our trucks need) so make sure you get the right harness (and a radio that will support it) or the amp interface adapter to go with the standard harness.Just hate to see people go through a bunch of work only to find out there new purchase doesn't work. If you have any other questions or need more specific info just message me and i can answer any questions you have.

I would recommend calling Crutchfield and speaking with a customer service person. Tell them you needs and they can suggest everything you need. I have used them before with success.
