Default radio + shifting= bad ground?

when my 97 disco is cold (first drive in the morning), my radio will turn off then back on when i shift in to drive, and sometimes when i shift into park.

but it really only does this in the morning.
and i dont think LA mornings are considered "cold"

anyone else with this problem?

I have never heard of this before.
But it sounds like a bad/loose connection somewhere.

Check your connections at the ignition switch.

I would pull the radio out, find the ground wire, then attach a new wire to it and tap a fresh ground with a self tapping screw (don't replace the old one just add to it, and be sure to scratch away any paint), if that does not resolve your problem then it is not a ground issue, at least not with the radio. next I would have to agree with eurotrash and check everything around the steering column, there is a cable that runs from there to the tranny shifter that could be jiggling a bad connection.
