Re-Balance drive shaft after U- joint replacement?
Hi to ALL, I'm new to the forum and I've been reading posts regarding u joints issues. I have a 99 DiscoII which I've had for about 8 years.. and around this time last year my front shaft just broke off, and off course my tranny went next(ouch!) long story short I have the same vibration the most are posting about.. 40-45mph and then at 70-75mph.So i decided that i was going to replace all my u joints tomarrow but i was told that i have to balance my shafts as well, so my question is.. must I balance them?
Also any members here for AZ?

I had mine rebuilt and they didn't balence it at the time, I had to take it back off last week and have it done, might be a good idea to get all of it done at the same time.
brooksa, you had your shaft rebuilt and it wasn't balanced? Did you have the vibration problem as well, and if so did the problem go away? I hear what you are saying thou.. I've read posts and there was no mention of re balancing.
Mine has been rebuilt 2 times and never rebalanced. The vibration you are describing sounds more more tires, go have them checked.
Disco Mike, I had my tires balanced after I read one of your posts and the vibration was still there.. When they rebuilt my shaft they claimed they balanced it as well.. Would it be ok then for me to replace my u joints and not re balance my shaft? What do you suggest?
I guess balencing was not part of the deal for mine, but I took it off and drove it and it was the cause of the my vibration, so balenced and good to go.
