Question Ready to wire up the Hella's on '04.. Anyone have input or warnings??

I just recieved my 6 Hella 500's for the home built Safari Rack I completed.. (my phone is broke so no pictures just yet) but I am wanting to run the lights off of the factory switches on the dash...
Will these switches work if I just wire up the lights to the existing wires that are near my headlights??
Reminder that I have the '04 S model that has no installed fog lights, but the wires are sill in that place.. So I assume I could just tap right into these wires..

Is there going to be issues with that, and should I just run a custom toggle switch into the cab somehow??

What would be the best route to wire lights into the cab without cause leaks and damage??

I will mount 4 on top and 2 on the brushguard..

Thanks for help!!

How ever you end up wiring it, be sure that the new lights have a fuse to protect the vehicle from them. If you just wire them up, no fuse, and you overload the wire, the insulation melts away. And can ignite things like insulation foam. Pretty soon you have a fast burning fire that makes you have roasted Rover.

The original LR fog light switches are horrible. I would suggest wiring them to an independent switch and ignore the LR wiring. UrbanPanzer has a great write up on his site. www.discovery2.co.uk / Roof Rack Lights

I would suggest using a MUD panel and switches.

There are some other mounting options out there as well.

Why are the original LR switches horrible? I don't use my fogs much but they always work....?...Just curious. Are they not good for high draw after market lights?(my fogs are oem).

I believe Urban Panzer did use LR Factory switch, just his own relay setup.

Check out dirty parts.com for great switches. Also I suggest Hella's prebuilt wiring harness to make the job much easier.
