Real time help needed! Vibrations!
I just developed a vibration between 30-45 mph it's not a balance issue on the wheels or u joint. It feels like transfer or close to gearing. Anyone have a clue?
First suspect for vibrations at that speed is a failing front drive shaft. I know you say it is not a u joint, but how can you tell for sure? One way is to remove the front drive shaft, lock your CDL and drive it and see if it still vibrates.
I did inspect the drive line while the rig was in neutral and foot on brake. There was a bit of play at the flange end going onto the transfer off the flange. But not in the joints itself. The flange has some play.... Is that normal there.?
Lock my CDL?
It's. Never been rebuilt or replaced
CDL = central diff lock on the transfer case. You have a 2001 and it could have CDL, not all of them do. You need to feel above the front output shaft for a nipple, this allows you to lock the CDL. If you can lock it then you can pull the front drive shaft and do a test drive to see if the vibrations are gone.
