Default Rear Air Suspension problem 03 Disco

Hi, I am having a issue with the rear air suspension on my 03 Disco. The bags pump up and hold air all day long when the truck is sitting but once I start driving it the rear end begins to loose air after hitting a few bumps. It seems the issue is on the drivers side because it starts sagging first and I can hear what sounds like air escaping from the rear airbag area. When I bring the truck to a stop the compressor kicks on and tries to pump the truck back up. Sometimes it will get it pumped all the way back up but sometimes it will try for 30-45 seconds, gives up and the bags completely deflate. I recently went out of town for 12 days and the bags were fully inflated when I left and are still fully inflated right now. . . Any help you can provide will be much appreciated!!!

Very common for bags to do this. You probably have a leak at one position and it only reveals itself at speed and not sitting there. You need some soapy water to soray around the bag to confirm but if it is showing bubbles you will need new bags. Check Arnott on eBay, I think it is thier best prices. The reason it drops is because the pump shuts down so it does not burn up, if you keep doing it though the pump will die. And that is far more than the replacement bags. Good Luck.

It is not a leak, what you have is an electrical issue.
If you want some help, PM me your number and I'll walk you thru what to do/check.

Sounds like a great time to switch to a Coil setup.

I was waiting for that generic reply to show up, no surprise there, especially from someone who never had SLS on their truck.

Or replace the air bags with new lifetime warranty ones and enjoy the nice ride.

Your right I do not have SLS. My father has it on his and he has been thru multiple compressors and bags while under warranty at Landrover flat irons. I purposely did not want it on mine. Thanks though.

I just swapped out the SLS to coil on mine, it's nice to have when it works. A costly nightmare when it doesn't. I did the same thing with all four airbags on my lincoln when those went out. Although the ride is great, the peace of mind to not have to worry about it is priceless. To each their own, if you want to keep the air ride there's good options out there to keep it in place.

SLS is probably a pretty sweet ride, I haven't experienced it on a Disco. But I enjoy the 2inch lift and springs I have much more than I could ever experience SLS. My truck rides good enough for me I don't expect to ride like caddy.
