Rear Air Suspention in a Disco II
I just bought myself a 1999 Disco II with the rear air suspention a couple weeks ago. Upon reading the owners manual I see that I can raise the rear end and bring it back to ride height from the inside, but to lower it you need a remote which is an accessory from the dealer. I am not going to frustrate myself with the "why Rover does what it does question?" but rather ask if there is a another way to lower it to where it sits at the very bottom. Yes I do plan to use that feature for loading and trailer hookups. Is the remote the only way or can I add a switch to help me out? Thanks again.
the remote actually allows you to lower the vehicle as you are outside at the back controlling it, instead of going inside, lower it then go the the back to see if it low enough, then go back inside...... you just remotelylower it perfectly, line it up with the trailer, then remotely lift it back up. As your driving, the normal height will set itself.
The button inside only lowers it to normal ride height. It seems like to lower it all the way down to the axle I need the remote. I might be wrong. If so, how do I lower it all the down from inside?
The optional remote is the only way to lower your suspension and having a 99 with SLS, and having hauled a number of different trailors, I have never needed to lower the truck even with my 3" lift. Half the secret is to hve a tongue that is at the proper level.

Rover has not designed the system to have an additional switch install to lower the suspension, the function is done by a remote a receivor and the ECU.
