Default Starter Bad??

My 94 disco 1 has been trouble starting lately. When I go to turn it over it clicks every timr I try to start it, after several attrempts it wil l start. This has been getting progressivley worse over the past few days. When i tried to start it today after a few attempts, it started to whine, like the starter was winding up, atleast I hope so. I am hoping it is not the flying spinning from loss of a tooth from trying to start it so many times. Thanks Guys. Daniel

Are you sure it is your starter and not a low battery?

pretty sure, it makes a really loud whining sound and as soon as i stop turning the key it stops. It will sit there and click forever, as long as I keep trying to turn it over. Toay was the first time it started to make the weird "winding up" sound....Any Help??

It is either a weak battery or your starter is shot.

To me it sounds like the gear on the starter is worn out. You will need a new starter.
