I'm looking to replace my rear bumper on my 04 Disco 2. Finding a good bumper at a good price has been a lot harder than I thought. So far the only two options I have been able to come across that seem good are the Goliath and Britpart rear bumpers. The Goliath is raw steel, so I would want that powder coated in black. I was quoted around $450 for that from a local shop which is almost the price of the bumper itself.
The Britpart bumper seems great, but I haven't been able to find a US supplier at a reasonable price. I'm really not looking to spend over $500 (inc shipping). Atlantic British charge $730 (with shipping). Rimmer Bros have it for around $350 but since its coming from the UK, I'm assuming shipping will be high.
Has anyone else got any recommendations of a good quality, good looking rear bumper that won't break the bank, or a better supplier for the Britpart bumper?
I had you until you said "good looking". I put a chunk of 5X3.5-.25 angle iron on mine. Had to do some custom grinding to get it to have a gap free fit on the edges, and I still need to put some filets or sliders on the sides. I am thinking I will cut the lower quarters on the rear and add in some sliders that tie into the frame.
There are a number of good steel bumpers for the D2, but they will cost you more than I feel your budget will allow. I have had steel bumpers on my ‘00 D2 for a while (10 + yrs) and they are great, it both fab companies are out of business.
Both Atlantic British and Rovers North offer great products, but it will cost you.
there was a run of those style bumpers that had the wrong angle on the end caps and forced the plastic end cap pieces up. unfortunately, i found this out the hard way. it's still installed, but irritates me every time i see it.

The britpart rear bumper is solid and it’s the cheapest/most common/highest quality these days. I’d spend the $599 and not look back. I have one on mine and was hit on the right rear and it probably saved my DII from being totaled. Zero body damage on the DII but the car that hit me was opened up like a tin can. Barely a smudge in the britpart bumper.
Under $500 is a big ask for a quality bumper these days.
I’ve managed to find the Britpart rear bumper on lucky8 for $528 with next day shipping. All things considered, I think that’s a great deal, especially with what I’ve heard everyone say here. So anyone looking for the Britpart Bumper for a decent price, I’d recommend Lucky8llc!
thanks for all the replies, now let’s just hope the PB blaster has soaked into those bolts and it’ll be a smooth install!
The Britpart one is a kinda go to by many accounts unless you want really great quality like Goliath or the like. The bumper takes about 30 seconds to get off if memory serves.
In terms of cost, I spent around $1500 or more on the rear bumper on my Jeep. For perspective, it’s 100% 1/4” plate steel with a swing out tire carrier designed for a few hundred pounds. With that in mind <$600 seems like a good deal.
