In terms of cost, I spent around $1500 or more on the rear bumper on my Jeep. For perspective, it’s 100% 1/4” plate steel with a swing out tire carrier designed for a few hundred pounds. With that in mind <$600 seems like a good deal.
that's inline with RTE or tactical which will actually hold up to a swing out carrier or hard offroading. Sub 1k (new) is not going to be sufficient if you wheel your disco hard. That said if it's for looks and some added protection or cheaper than a stock replacement by all means go for it.

surprised Lucky8 had a bargain - I find most of their prices to be on the high side compared to others

Installing this is definitely a two person job.. I had to have my wife start getting the bolts in while I held it in place. I took the entire tow section off, I heard some are able to loosen the four bolts to get enough play to slip it in, but for me it was no go, impossible.

problem now is I can’t get the tow section back in… the four bolt holes in the tow section no longer line up to the holes in the two arms…

I’ll give it another try tomorrow. Any advice?

Dang. Wish I had seen this sooner. I was stepping on the rear bumper and the thing just shattered. Thought I would give one of these eBay cheapies a try and found 2 issues: The sides indeed have the wrong angle, and the length of the sides is 3" too short. I went to return it and they offered for me to keep it for a partial refund. So ended up getting it for 100. Still useless though, I am not going to waste my time trying to get it to fit. Will probably end up ordering from Lucky8. If anyone is near Charlotte and wants this thing for 50, it's yours.

Amazon Amazon

I got this one, it is not heavy duty, but for the price is fits well. I would grind down the mounting holes a bit so that it slides toward the vehicle more. The rubber trim piece on top of the bumper barely covers the gap unless you do so. But it fits the corner trim pieces.

As a stop gap that doesn’t look too bad. My biggest concern (and why the rear bumper on my Jeep cost so much) is that I tow a good bit and would like to retain the OEM hitch. Also, that one is only a couple hundred cheaper than a known solution, and I just don’t have the time to play guinea pig.

I’m starting to get more and more in the market for a rear bumper and the Britpart one is probably what I’ll end up with as my Disco(s) aren’t hard core off road machines, but both rear bumpers are wasted. Both of them have parking sensors and and I think I could drill holes and retain the parking sensors pretty easily in a Britpart bumper.

I actually saw a Britpart- or the like- bumper with just that done and that would be really cool.
