I need to thanks Rich (ZSKI 128) for the license plate light cover. Mine was badly damaged by water getting in, freezing, and cracking it apart from the inside.
As the Sony radio I am getting closer and closer to installing can handle a reversing camera, I decided to pay out the small amount of money they cost and get one. While compared to my Mother's Buick Encore or even my Fiat 500 Abarth, seeing out the Disco is a breeze, it is still hard to see what is directly behind the truck due to the height of the rear window. After getting a cheapish camera, it was off to finding a place to install it. As I had gone years without working license plate lights, I did not think that anybody would mind my only having one working light instead of two, so I drilled a hole into the cover towards the middle of the back door and set about sealing it up with some boatbuilding epoxy, forming a nicely smoothed in hole that would hopefully look more stock.
With the small bullet camera installed into the hole and lined up, it was time to take off the old cracked cover and install the new:
Now I need to get off my butt and install the radio into the dash along with the speakers.
no, it's wired. As I ripped out the rear subwoofer, I was able to feed the cables through the loom in the door. That is as far as I got due to weather and a lack of anywhere to plug them.
