Default Rear door checkstay pivot

It's the post on the body that connects to the rear door stay to keep it from opening too far. The post is supposed to have a circlip on the top to hold the checkstay to the pivot pin. My '97 disco has a pivot pin that is broken off. Anybody have any idea how the post is installed? I tried grabbing it with a stud remover thinking that it might be threaded but I couldn't get it out. It appears to be hardened so it could be a pain to get out. I looked underneath but I don't see any way to get to the bottom of it. Any ideas?

thanks,
Marv

i dont get it... the post is still there??? if so, why are you trying to get it off? what ive done before when the top got worn down too much for the clip to stay on was to tap the stud, and puta nut on it to keep the strap in place then grind it down to flat, but im not really sure what your problem is here

There isnt much of the post left. I thought that if I could get the old one out, I could make a new one. I can't see the underside to tell how it is held in.
