Rear Door Lock....

Rear Door Lock....
To start my story, let me say that the lock was centrally working on the tailgate door up until one of the kids pushed it doen manually from inside the truck, now it won't lock/unlock with the key in the doors. I have to reach through and unlock it by hand now. Before I strangle the kid, any ideas what it can be? It is a 96 Disco and I just use the key to lock and unlock.

Stick your straw from your favorite penatrant/lube (not wd-40) and soak the inside of the door lock and work it with your key, locking and unlocking it with the key several times.
Open the door and soak the latch and the surounding area, open and close the door several times to make sure all the lube gets worked in.
See if that helps. Do this to all your doors every 6 months. More often if you drive dirt/dusty roads alot or live in the snow belt where they use salt on the roads to meltice and snow.
If that doesnt do it then you need a new actuator.

RE: Rear Door Lock....
If its anything like a D2, its really easy, and actually the easiest of all doors.
Unsrew the door handle, doorpull handlesurround,speaker grill, speaker box,speaker, unplug speaker and un-pop thedoor panel a flat screwdriver will do, but there's a special device especially for that, that works much better. If I was you, before tackling this, I'd go buy that panel remover and get some panel clips, causes you'll definitely brake a few when taking off the panel.
Again on a D2, there's 2 torx bolts holding the actuator located just over the latch. Unscrew those and all you need to do is unclip the handle rod and the push **** rod and you're done.
BTW, the push **** knor could just be unclipped from being pushed down. Have you tried opening it , or you just take for granted that it's still locked because the **** is not up???
It ain't the kid's fault, what happened is not normal, so leave him alone
let us know...
