Default Rear drive shaft blow out

Rear drive shaft gave up the ghost yesterday. The yoke with the splines shot out of the drive shaft. Will a spline shaft from a 99 fit a 96? The rear ofportion of the shaft is fine.
Also it damaged the four bolts coming out of the transfer case. Shop manual doesn't really tell you how to take it apart to get to these bolts. Can anyone of you guys shed some light on this?

As long as it is a 99 DI it should fit.
Go to www.discoweb.org and click on the tech tab under their banner. There is a tip on how to replace a T-case output seal, it might shed some light for you.

Hey Spike, thanks for the reply.
I went over there and looked around. It has one tab listed as t-case, and I believe it's on the front that they are talking about.

Yeah that is all I founf too, but I believe that the front and the rear are the same. The way the DS connects anyway.

DiscoMike, thank you! I appreciate the info on how to get this rig back to the house. Now if I can figure out how to get that drum off, so that I can replace the drive shaft bolts.
Thanks again!
