Default Rear end clicking

So on monday i started to hear some clicking in my rear end so i parked it. Took it to the hobby shop yesterday and listened to the rear diff with a long 3/8 extension and it was the source. So i took it apart:

That doesn't look good

Wtf, looks like a apex tip

Anyway i removed it and the rest of the diff checked out so i put it back together and went on my merry way.

That doesn't look too healthy. The crown wheel seems to have more chipped teeth than Quasimodo Pictures & Photos of Quasimodo - IMDb and the resident foreign body looks like a broken tooth off of the pinion gear. Maybe time for a rebuild or a new diff.

None of the crown, pinion, or spider gears have chips in them. The pic just makes the crown looks like i does.

Off-topic sort of. Sorry. Hobby shop? Does that mean you have a place where you can rent lift time? I have wished for such a place.

Im in the military and on most if not every base there is an auto/hobby shop. I have access to everything i need from air tools to a drive on lift that supports a full size school bus, plus napa will deliver parts to the hobby shop.

What a fantastic facility. You make me envious with that equipment available for your use. Good to hear the diff teeth aren't chipped or damaged - business as usual then
