Default Rear hatch won't lock

Hey guys it's been awhile, I hope everyone's been doing well.
So I did a search on the forum and didn't find anything that quite matched my problem. My rear hatch is stuck in the unlocked position. When I lock the vehicle with the fob, I can hear the actuator try to lock/unlock the hatch, and I'm unable to lock it manually, it feels jammed.
Is this a sign that I need a new actuator, or is there something else that I'm missing? Thanks for your input

You will need to remove the inside panel and see what is going on, could be a bad actuator or a bad spring.
Does it open/close fine?

Yep, it opens and closes fine, just doesn't lock. I don't like leaving it unlocked at the university, but I suppose my alarm will deter the thefts until I get it fixed

Thanks for the reply Spike. I'll be pulling it apart before the cold weather hits....oh wait....well before snow hits.
