Did you look at the RAVE? It has to seat all the way. You should be able to push it in with your fingertips. I printed several pages from a variety of sources before I did mine. If I remember correctly, there was a good write up with all the step by step and photos on DiscoWeb.org for doing the rear brakes and hub. I know the RAVE covers all of it.

Doesn't the tapered side go on the inside? It's been a while since I did mine, but all the printed material is in a 3 ring binder in the back of my Disco. I'll look at it later.

If you look at it carefully, you'll see the small taper goes towards the center of the hub on both the inner and outer bearings, there would be no way to install them otherwise.
Never use new cones with old cups.

If this is Paul at Aristocrat, the part should be correct if you gave him all the correct details, including the VIN. Paul is the ONLY person I talk to there concerning my personal vehicle. For vehicles at work, I will also talk to Charles; he seems pretty good too. In the several years I have been dealing with Paul, I have only received one incorrect part (transmission pan spacer for the mounting bolts) and that is because I didn't specify whether I needed a corner or side spacer.

PS: Where in MO are you?

The spacer should go on, then the inner nut, before you install the locking washer.

Also, I can't see a bit of grease on the bearings. The bearings need to be well packed (grease between all the rollers) and the space between them about 1/2 full of grease before installing the hub.
