Default Rear Ladder Options

I've recently purchased a roof rack and now I'm considering installing a ladder: OEM or aftermarket.
There seems to be some differences between various ones in the way they fit. I notice some don't quite line up with the rear handle cover. Some require drilling and some don't? I'm looking for recommendations.

Cheers,

Steve

Not sure how much the Voyager Off-Road ladder cost, but it’s extremely beefy vs the OEM LR model.

True, I got both and the Voyager seems more solid.

I got the Atlantic British ladder thru Amazon for $80 shipped.

At first it didn't line up the way I thought it should. If I centered the ladder over the rear door handle, the upper mount was too far to the left at the curve of the door frame by nearly a half inch.

If I moved the upper mounting point inward, then the lower mounts were to far towards the spare tire.

In the end I mounted the top first, then pulled the bottom back to where it was centered over the door handle.

I then mounted it using 1/4"-20 stainless bolts and nut inserts. That was about 6 months ago and I have climbed it many times since. Its rock solid and I have no complaints about the ladder.

My biggest complaint is how you wind up stepping on the door handle/tag light surround if you don't position your foot correctly on the bottom rung of the ladder.

I hadn't come across the Voyager ladder in my searches. It does seem beefier (in a good way) and I do like the look of it. I contacted them about ordering one. It is pricier at $159 than others I've seen.

Thanks for the help!

What about the factory LR ones that Lucky8 has advertised in the classified section here? Hard to beat the $70 delivered price.

Not a factory LR unit, but still a good deal.

I just step from the bumper to the top of the tire to the roof rack. No ladder. I never stand on the tire.

Am I the only one you confused by this statement? haha

"I just step from the bumper to the tire" "I never stand on the tire"
