Fair point. Think of stepping from rock to rock crossing a stream. You may very briefly touch a rock before moving on to the next one, but you don’t remain standing on it. My point was that I don’t put my full weight on the tire. I make sure that I support as much of my weight as possible with my arms that are holding onto the rack and pulling me up and that I make the move quickly.

Old thread, but happened to run across this post while searching for a new rear ladder. A couple of guys mentioned the Voyager ladder being a little pricey at $159. Just checked it out on their website. Price went up slightly. Wow!

I like Voyager products, but their prices are completely out of control. I had their rack a ladder on my last D2 and as everyone says, it is extremely beefy and I used it a good bit to get on the rack. However, their costs now for a rack and ladder are more than most Discos cost. Kinda dumb.

I think , the ladders are absolutely stupid . How can you have an armful to load , and expect to move up the ladder like spider man ?? Just stand on the top of your tire and load your rack . Period .
Don't
Do
It .......

I agree. I’m just replacing a ladder that was on there when I bought the truck instead of patching the existing holes.

Is this not just a regular oem ladder? I bought mine from the dealer a few years back for $200 CDN I'll be honest mine is just there for show but I find it very useful for opening the trunk on an incline. Im sure theres cheaper alternatives than 1700 lol

$1599 for a ladder for a D2? I’m sure they are selling exactly zero of those.
