Default Rear middle Seat belt woes

My middle rear seat belt wouldnt retract after i put the seats down. My kids were playing in there so i cant say for sure what happened but it seems the plastic seat belt cover broke, the plastic button on the seat belt itself moved past the "point of no return" -- literally it and wouldnt retract. So, I ended up taking the seat belt out of the back of the seat and i got it to retract....too far. The whole seat is now retracted and i cant get it to extend back out. Is it shot or is there a trick to this?

Thanks!

Matt

I did the exact same thing. I went dolomite with my pocket knife, but I am an idiot. I found a write up on proper repair after I ruined any possibility for repair. the info was on this forum. I just did a quick search and didn't see it, but it is out there. iirc, it had to do with popping the housing on the spool, and depressing some type of catch.
good luck.

I had the same problem also. The seatbelt has an inertial locking mechanism in it and it only works when properly oriented. You need to hold it just as it is when on the seat. If it goes back into the housing too much, you can pop off the cover and manually disengage the latch. If I remember correctly, once you pull of the outer cover on the belt you will see a transparent inner cover and you can see the inertia latch. Once you get it out. make sure you come up with some way to keep it from retracting beyond the plastic stopper so it won't happen again.

Default Thanks!

Thanks, the orientation angle was the issue. As soon as i found the right orientation, i got it to relase. Just ordered a new seatbelt cover so that should hold the plastic stopper where it belongs! Thanks so much!
