That is a great idea, but I am looking for a BLACK ring (and black tip). Everything I see for boats is chrome or brass.

You could use that same type of ring and paint it with VHT satin black epoxy paint or Plasti Dip it. There is. YouTube video where a guy Plasti Dipped his exhaust tip on an Audi? Personally I would go with VHT paint or do the rubber fuel line method slitting one side and pushing it on butt joint to butt joint see my Album photos. It holds well and insulates edge.

Exiting through the body panel isn't a bad idea until you drop the truck onto that panel as you clear and obstacle. After beating mine up a couple times and thinking about getting a Greg Davis bumper, I finally decided to have a customer rear bumper built. Below you can see where the exhaust exits through the bumper on the driver side...
