Does this sound like a motor issue considering that I cant crank it?

Try opening up the panel in the rear with the sunroof button to access the motor. Use a 12volt power supply directly(I use a small re chargeable drill battery) and run power to the motor directly. That will tell you if it's the motor and allow you to at least close it if it's something else.

swap the motor with the fronts. If it works then, its just the motor.
If not, then electrical or mechanical in the slides.

I took my motor assembly completely apart and found the motor itself had corroded internally. Easily cleaned greased and reassembled.
Fixed the issue.

when you pull the motor try operating it with the allen wrench to see if it will open and close normally

The glass on my rear sunroof is loose and it sometimes jams when trying to close it. it almost certainly just needs the bolts tightening but I haven't got round to it yet.

Default 1998 Discovery sunroof issues

Hi all, having sunroof trouble on both units. The front sun roof is stuck partially up and doesn't seem to want to move at all. When I push the switch open I hear a slight "thunk" from the area of the DS sun visor. Nothing when I push closed. The rear sun roof works intermittantly and I have gotten it to the full open position and if I repeatedly push the switch it will eventually go to the forward but not down position but will not lock down. Does not appear to work at all from the rear switch. I am aware of the safety switch and I do not believe it is the issue. I see from previous posts that there is a manual crank feature? Allen wrench? I am going to get up on the roof when the sun starts heading down and vacuum out the tracks and inspect the mechanicals. Meanwhile I will try and find the manual crank function location so I can lock them down until I can fix properly. Any suggestions as to how else to proceed?

So found out that the motor has seized. Just curious what grease to use on it and which part to put it on. I have already took it apart and cleaned it out. Thanks
