Thumbs up save yourself..

save yourself some greif and above all .....$$$$$$$... Get springs and forget about it. I have had to deal with air suspension on a RR for 9 years and the only thing i can tell you about it is it will let you down when your pants are around your ankels... It's a battle for rich people who have nothing better to do than to vist the dealer and have there wallet sucked threw there ***....Dont waist another minute trying to chase down something on a system that was designed by a idiot.... get springs and get on with your life. No matter how much $$$ you have it will always fail...If airlines used it there would not be anyone one left....

Goog luck , dont fight it...change it and make it better.. Chris

Or potentially some other issue?

The height sensor's dont fail... they break... Yes break, My daughters right sensor broke and caused the back right bag to deflait.. I changed her's to springs and no problems... Get rid of the bags unless you are Mr. Money bags....i Have her bags that i took out and they are still good... I would sell to you but i know they will fail someday so i will save you the greif and sell them on ebay to someone not so bright..

Good luck, Chris

Do all 04's have air suspension in the rear? Or only the HSE with the height button/control?

I haven't even bothered to check mine. Doh!

I feel fine actually I just cant stand idiots and stuff that idots design and stand by it like it is the best... then when something fails in that system you cant drive and when you do get the truck back to the idiots they are uhh well ...we need to repalce everything...it's standard...morons

As for lifting,, next month OME shocks and springs, 2" lift and new tires 275 65 r18 general grabber II... Cant wait...

SLS was an option on all D2's.

After it has sat and the rear is lowered start the truck and then shut the doors and stick your head under the passenger side and listen for the compressor.

I would dump the air ride and go with coils springs and you will never have suspension problems ever again.

Yes, you can switch to coils but the ride will be quite different and id you want to do the switch right, you will need front and rear springs and shocks or the truck will not sit level.
When (if) one does replace the bags with springs, how do you deal with the ECU? Would it not still be trying to control a system (that is no longer there) and throw codes or keep the SLS warning light on?

I just went through this as well. I replaced mine with some generic springs which I was told would be a crappy ride but I haven't noticed any real difference. It does tend to bounce a little more on the interstate if I hit a dip but only slightly. I also still have my arnott airbags that I would be willing to sell if you find that it is indeed the airbags and you want to stick with the SLS. I also have some height position sensors as well. BTW I found that it was easier to replace the airbags in your driveway than to put in springs unless you want to disconnect your (insert the name of the bars that hold the axle up here) or rent a spring compressor. Hope this helps!

you are correct but if you have a floor jack you can use the jack that comes with the truck to get the body up higher to put in the springs. i did both replace airspring and change her over to springs in my driveway. Pretty strait forward.

Thanks Chris
