Unhappy Rear tail door won't open

Only after I've loaded it completely full of stuff.

Anyway, there is nothing stuck or jammed that I can see. Locking and unlocking does not help. The handle on the inside of the door does not appear to work. The handle on the outside (above the license plate) does'nt seem like it went all the way back to the original position where you squeeze it to open the door. I've looked at the Rave CD and everything they tell you to do is with the door open.

Any suggestions ??

Pry the land rover badge off the rear door handle and spray a liberal amount of the penetrating lube of your choice on the mechanism. Work the handle for a bit and your problem should be solved.

You can also use the search feature in the forum to find a ton of info on this. Good luck.

Is your door crooked at all? It's possible that the hinges are bent. I know that sounds highly unlikely but some way or another my hinges were bent and I had to use a press to straighten them back out. It's cast iron(lol).

willrok13 ~ I had my husband do as you suggested and lo and behold, it worked. He's given everything a liberal coat of grease and it's so much easier.

Thanks !!

You MUST lube the latch/handle/door stay on the cargo door every 6 months, more often if you live on a dirt road or drive in dusty area's often.

mine did the same thing. i would always pry the badge off and push the handle to complete back position but now the handle will not budge at all from the complete back position. i will try to spray it down tmrw. hopefully that helps

Glad to hear it worked. Now keep it lubed regularly as spike mentioned. White lithium grease works well. And while you're at it, squirt a shot or two of graphite lube in your lock tumblers. That will avoid a lot of problems down the road too.
