Default Rear View Mirror fix!

I'm sure I'm not the only one with a Disco that's rear view mirror has 'gone bad'. I did some research and found out the Donnelly mirror in my 1999 Disco II was prone to having the toxic liquid in it leak. I looked around and realized finding a replacement wasn't an easy thing. The company that manufactured the original mirrors has (understandably) gone out of business. I'm not technically inclined and putting in a new-to-me, yet old mirror from another car would cost me $ and the mirror would probably go bad later. I believe I found Global Battery Solutions on this forum when someone shared a link to a Jaguar forum. Anyway, GBS reworks old mirrors. I removed the mirror, shipped it to them. They removed the toxic liquid and replaced it with a non-toxic gel, then shipped it back. The process was very simple, not terribly expensive, really fast, and I get the original mirror back! If you're looking for help with your mirror check them out: Global Battery Solutions | EXPERTS IN THE FIELD OF LITHIUM ION ANALYSIS AND REPAIR I used 'CONTACT' to send an email confirming my mirror was one they worked on and received a form with instructions, etc. I'm not affiliated with GBS, just a happy customer :-)

Later D2 mirrors are superior to the 94-99 D1/D2 models. Every D1 or D2 I’ve owned with the old style = upgrade to later model units.

I find your post most valuable. Our 1999 Disco 2 inside rearview mirror has gone bad as yours did. I've been trying to work a solution for months but no luck. Then I found your post. I Googled Global Battery Solutions but there are several firms that come up. I clicked on the link you provided but that did not work. Could you advise which company you used by providing a link that connects to the company you used? Thanks.

It looks like Global Battery Solutions was bought out by a company called ATC Remanufacturing. I've reached out to see if they still rework Disco mirrors and will reply with anything I find out.
