I have always wondered, are you better off with thinner oil (more flow, less pressure and less cushion) or thicker oil (less flow, more pressure and more cushion).???

These engines are SO LOOSE - just put in Rotella non synthetic 15W-40 to 50W or such.

If you live in very very cold place for the winter - then you are probably better off with synthetic if it is 0 degrees out.
OK I gotta ask, and I know its butting into a thread with another question but I got too. Rotella diesel oil is OK to use in gasoline engines? I have read earlier threads on this but I didn't know if everyone was putting it in their Bosch engines, so I would pass it up and go straight for the mobile 1 synthetic 5w 40. Which the mobile 1 is good oil but if rotella is the best to use then it looks like I'm gonna do an oil change this weekend.

This oil is formulated for diesel but that doesn't really change its wear protection, it just adds extra stuff to clean the engine (think soot in a diesel).

I've heard of people using the Rotella products in their motorcycles and love it.

Yep used the same 15w-40 in my 91 nighthawk 750. Ran great. It's a good oil for older or old designed gas engines.

I use the Rotella 15w40 in my 1969 VW 1600 type 1 (upright) engine. Also an old design with looser tolerances than modern engines and it works great there too. The key factor is high ZDDP levels. Rotella is not the only one, just the most affordable.
