Wow - close call; you were lucky. Like to hear other's opinion of following:
Get some 5/8" 4X8 plywood sheets, place one each under front and back tires.Get them under the tires by stabilizing under the frame and digging out (I wouldn't lift her at all). Then you might grease, soap, muddy, or leave it dry. Then get a cable tied to front and back long enough to form a triangle that will not interefere with any body/suspension.Anchor as LOW as possible (how about wheel harnesses I see on transport vehicles) Finally, hook to the triangle with a winch and gently pull it up.I wish you the best.

 

going out to rescue the rover in a little bit - the local sheriff "recommended" that we stop last night and wait til daylight. im gonna try to pull from axels sideways up hill if its still muddy, or just attach my sisters truck to the front of the rover to keep the engine out of the lake and pull like hell. i will have wife take pics for postertity and you guys can witness the damage or joy.

side note: while out trying (and failing) to recover rover last night we get a phone call from our maintence guy at apartment in WA. seems the show fall was more than the carport could handle and my wifes paseo was CRUSHED!

Well, you wanted another Rover anyway.

 

I noticed today when I backed into a snow covered ditch thatthere is a lack of tow hooks on the front. I went around the front axle with a ****** strap and my dad yanked it out with his cj-7.

Dont pull on that "b" pillar youll bend the roof. This one real sticky. Can you get a heavy truck with a winch in there?? Put a strap from the front frame hook and then to the rear (really long strap)and pull it sideways the picture seems the angle of the truck is enough to clear the sheet metal and bumper covers. If you go swimming do it *** end first then pull it out forwards, otherwise a whole lot of unhappy ecus up front will come to ruine your chrismas... scott

 

Damn I feel for you man. I live not too far from you but am also not in town for a few days. However if she is not recovered by the time I am back my Disco has a winch and I do have a few recovery tools, pully, anchor etc to help you out. Keep us posted.

Anybody heard from pilsner, hope he is to busy to post - that everything is getting better for him/them. he has had a bad stretch the last few days.
