Default remove exhaust manifold

How hard is it to remove, the previous owner but a bad bolt in to the Y pipe the one you can not get at. It broke when the muffler and gaskets were replaced. Now I need to get it out.

Not hard at all to remove from the head, if you have access to an air-ratchet, it is a breeze. The bolts at the collector are much harder

Thankfully that was just done, now I just need a day with no rain or snow and generally above freezing - I hate sounding like a tractor.

The studs screw into the manifold.
If i remember the studs at the muffler are blind. I drilled that all out and added bolts. Again, if I remember correctly. I'm not near the rover, 6 hours away, so I can't look.

I went with Stainless allen head bolts. When the studs broke on my exhaust manifolds we had to remove the
exhaust manifolds and torch the broken studs out, what a PITA!

Thanks all I have ordered a new stud, nuts, manifold bolts, and gaskets. I hope to pull the manifold this week while that stuff ships to give myself lots of time to get the broken stud out - and it flush just to make this things fun. I am going to try a reverse drill bit after heating and penetrating oil, if it catches it might just spin it out.

Well getting the exhaust manifold out was easy all the bolts came out clean, Then I saw the bad news and the reason one stud snapped, note the attempt a weld :

When I got it off it was pretty obvious that the weld hit the stud - it literally took 10 minutes, with a dremel for rough then a file to finish to remove the crap, the new gasket was wrecked from the weld impacting it.

The old stud did not come out so drill and tap, that worked out perfectly if a tiny bit shallow.

The bad news trying to get an exhaust manifold back on in the snow and falling darkness is not fun, but it is on there and the bolts are in - just needs to be torqued down.

With luck no rain tonight
