Default Removing cdl solenoid?

My transmission shifter lockout solenoid failed awhile back so I removed it, but I believe the solenoid on the center diff is bad as well. Can it be removed from underneath the truck or do I have to go through the inside?

Your TC will only have one interlock solenoid. Depending on the year it's either mounted on top of the transfer case or on the actual 4hi/N/4lo shift lever.

CDL is engaged via a cable on D2's unless you've installed an earlier D1 mechanical linkage.

If CDL won't engage/disengage check your cable assembly or your D1 linkages.

It's on the 4hi/N/4lo shifter. You can drill out the 13 rivets holding the shift plate in and then gain access to it from there. The 04 setup beats the heck out of the 99-02 setup as there is no room at all hardly to get to it!!

Ok awesome, thanks!

Secondary question, would these solenoids going bad effect the tcs/abs in any way? Like would they cause the 3/4 amigos?

Nope not related at all. The interlock solenoid will just prevent moving from 4hi/N/4lo. The ABS Three Amigos is either with the ABS Modulator itself (from valves, to bad grounds) or a wheel sensor. I recommend the icarsoft i930 or LRII scan tool to view current ABS DTC's.

Ok, i got everything back together last night, hi-low was working but was a little hard to move. i soaked all the fittings in Parts blaster so that i could play with it over the next couple days and hopefully smooth things up.

went out to drive the truck to work today and shifted into low range, when i pulled back on the lever it was completely limp, just flops back in forth. so im assuming ive either snapped the cable or broken some fitting.

ive tried several google searches and cant find a replacement cable. is there such a thing or do i have to buy and entire shifter assembly?

Well the main 4hi/N/4lo cable should be the same on any 99-04 (04 just has the added cable for the CDL), so honestly any D2 at a junk yard = you should be able to use the 4hi/N/4lo cable and just swap it out. The CDL Cable is the hard to find little fella.

I'd pull the center console, and take a peek down in there or use a telescopic mirror and check the connections at the shifter and 4hi/N/4lo selector on the TC.

I'm going to attempt to handle it from underneath, I really really really don't want to drill out those damn rivets I just put In.

I never re-install rivets!!! I know why LR used them as D90/110's are held together by them and they have tons of them, but they have no place in a D1/D2 tunnel preventing easy access. Once I drill them out I replace them with 1/2 screws and call it a day.
