Dooder, do the dowel holes come thru the pump housing? (drill it?)
If they do, you could align with longer dowels then pull them out later.

The pump tolerances are in the .004" range, so I doubt you'll ever wing it.

the mechanic i chose to rebuild my motor isnt able to correct the bearing issues quick enough, 3 rebuilds and he's just now realizing its the cam bearings? i couldnt wait any longer ... so i bought a new motor, one that needs no work
